π THE FULL PICTURE:
Hull City returned to the Premier League after nine years and shocked Manchester United 2-0 on opening weekend. First-half goals from defenders Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy did the damage. That's Hull's first league win over United since 1974, and it came after everyone predicted them to finish bottom. Manager Sergej Jakirovic, the first Bosnian-Herzegovinian coach in the Premier League, said his team is trying to prove people wrong. Ajayi, released by West Brom a year ago, says they're not worried about outside pressure. Even Rooney and Shearer were impressed with Hull's shape and work rate.
π MY TAKE:
Dude, this is why we love football. A team that barely scraped into the playoffs, that everyone wrote off, just smacked one of the biggest clubs in the world. Sure, it's one game, but the energy is real. Jakirovic's side played with belief and punished United's weakness on crosses. The doubters, including those podcast guys, look silly today. But Ajayi's right, it's just one win. Can they keep this up? If they play with this fire, teams better watch out. Let's go, Tigers.
