π¨ Southampton Laughs Off Villa's Β£18m Bid for Harwood-Bellis
21 August 2026, 08:36
π THE FULL PICTURE:
Dude, Southampton just shut down Aston Villa's opening move. Villa threw down around Β£18m plus add-ons for Taylor Harwood-Bellis, and the Saints said nah, we want closer to Β£25m. Harwood-Bellis has been at Southampton since 2023, first on loan, and he's got one England cap from a 2024 Nations League match against Ireland. He came through Man City's academy but never played for their first team. Villa's scrambling because Ezri Konsa's heading to Arsenal for over Β£50m. And with Tielemans, Rogers, and Digne already sold after winning the Europa League, Villa's rebuild is in full swing. They've added Suzuki, Ruggeri, Gomes, and Manzambi this week. Plus Southampton finished fourth in the Championship before Spygate wrecked their playoffs.
π MY TAKE:
Villa's got money burning a hole in their pocket, but Β£18m for a guy with one cap? That's a lowball in this market. Southampton knows what they've got. The Spygate mess ended their playoff hopes, so they're not desperate to sell. If Villa really wants Harwood-Bellis, they need to stop window shopping and pay the Β£25m. Also, losing Konsa hurts, but you can't replace a starter with a budget bid and expect it to work. Pay up or move on.
