18 August 2026, 19:38
π THE FULL PICTURE:
Aston Villa agreed a deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham, an initial loan with an obligation to buy. The DR Congo right-back is heading to the Midlands for a medical, exact terms unknown. West Ham had wanted Β£25m. Wan-Bissaka missed their first two games. Villa sold Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for Β£117m, leaving the lowest net spend near Β£110m. They added Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes, and Garnacho on loan. The Hammers sold Fernandes to Spurs for Β£85m and Summerville for Β£60m, while Bowen re-signed. Villa open at Brighton Sunday and are in the Champions League after a fourth-place finish and Europa League title.
π MY TAKE:
Villa is playing 4D chess. Sell Rogers for $117m, then grab Wan-Bissaka and Garnacho on loan? That's insane. Net spend around $110m is stupid low for a Champions League club. West Ham's selling spree is wild, but locking Bowen to a new deal keeps some sanity. Wan-Bissaka's a solid pickup, and that obligation to buy is no gamble. Big vibes in the Midlands.
