π¨ LEEDS LAND SWISS STAR ELVEDI, MEDICAL SET, DEAL DONE? ALMOST!

π THE FULL PICTURE:
Leeds United agreed an Β£8.5m deal to bring in Swiss defender Nico Elvedi from Borussia Monchengladbach. The 29-year-old is flying to England for a medical Monday after the Germans accepted an initial Β£6.8m, plus Β£1.7m in add-ons. Elvedi's ending an 11-year run with the Bundesliga side. He's got 73 caps for Switzerland and was in their World Cup squad this summer. Manager Daniel Farke kept it cool after a 4-0 preseason win over Augsburg, saying nothing's final until the medical and paperwork are done. But he expects something in the next 48 hours. The move also opens the door for fringe defender Sebastiaan Bornauw to head to Hamburg on loan with an option to buy. Leeds open their Premier League season at Nottingham Forest next Saturday.
π MY TAKE:
This is a smart piece of business. Elvedi's a proven international who can play multiple spots in the backline, and for under nine million quid in today's market? That's solid value. Farke's playing it safe, and you can't blame him. We've all seen deals collapse at the last second. If this goes through, Leeds just added serious experience right before a tough opener at Forest. Let's hope the pen hits the paper, because this one's got real potential. π
