🚨 Gakpo to Tottenham? The Stats Make a Wild Case, Let's Go

📝 THE FULL PICTURE:
Cody Gakpo's 2025-26 season at Liverpool looked underwhelming on the surface, seven Premier League goals being his lowest in a full Anfield campaign. But the underlying numbers tell a different story. Only seven wingers in Europe's top five leagues averaged more touches in the opposition box than his 2.2 per 90. He ranked top 10 in shots and chances created, and his shot frequency hit the 98th percentile. Gakpo also blew past every Spurs forward option in expected goals, assists, and big chances created. The 6ft 4in Dutchman adds defensive work too, regaining possession 87 times. Liverpool aren't actively looking to sell him, and Spurs know it.
💭 MY TAKE:
Look, I get why Spurs are sniffing around. Gakpo's raw goal count dipped, but the dude was still generating elite chances in a Liverpool side that struggled. He's better than Richarlison, Solanke, and Tel in almost every key attacking category. And at 6ft 4in with that aerial presence? That's a mismatch weapon. The real question is whether Liverpool would even entertain a deal. They're not dumb. Losing Gakpo AND Salah in one window would gut their attack. Spurs can dream, but this one's a long shot.
