π¨ FSG in Talks with Amit Bhatia Consortium for Minority Liverpool Stake
22 July 2026, 05:26
π THE FULL PICTURE:
Fenway Sports Group is in discussions with a consortium led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia for a minority investment in Liverpool. Bhatia, 46, stepped down as QPR director and co-owner on Tuesday after 18 seasons. FSG confirmed the interest, but the deal isn't finalized yet. If it goes through, it would follow the same structure as the 2023 Dynasty investment, which helped offset infrastructure debts from Anfield upgrades. A Financial Times report values Liverpool at over $6bn under this deal. Bhatia, an ex-Morgan Stanley banker, now runs construction and real estate firms. He also married Vanisha Mittal, daughter of steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, in a $55m wedding-once the world's most expensive. FSG originally opened the door to new investment back in 2022, and this isn't a full sale.
π MY TAKE:
Honestly, this is wild. Bhatiaβs got the money, the connections, and a whole stand at QPR named after him. But Liverpool fans should keep cool-FSG isn't selling control, just a slice. The $6bn valuation is insane for a club bought for Β£300m in 2010. Also, FSG ditching the multi-club model cost them Michael Edwards. Richard Hughes is holding the transfer reins for now, but that Saudi interest is a ticking clock. Let's see if this deal actually sticks.
